Exploring A Room Of Science

In Te Ngahere we have been learning science and we went to the science roadshow at the BAY OF ISLANDS COLLEGE and there were some things I learnt. So there was a bird quiz  that you had to find  out the sound of the bird which I didn't know? and so I came pass this sound so and I didn’t even know so I pick the kaka bird and it was right now I know what sound a kaka bird makes. It was my buddys turn now and he had no idea what it was so he just kept guessing and he picked the right answer and so the answer he got a kiwi we went to try another thing we found another thing which was a smelling fruit kinda thing so the point was rub your finger on the ball and smell it but the thing is I can’t smell so my buddy had a go because he could smell. So he did find out the smell the smell was a orange and that made me feel happy and good.

The Amazing great marble challenge

In Te Ngahere we have been doing a great marble challenge. We did this because we were using the scientific method. The purpose of this was to try and make the marble roll down the ramp and try and make the marble land on 1100mm. I really think me and my group did really well because we had such a creative good looking ramp. The materials we used were cardboard, hot glue, a marble so it could go down the ramp and a  paper towel roll. I really enjoyed trying to make a ramp because me and my group had so much faith in ourselves. This activity was really fun to do because me and my group sat there laughing most of  the time and we all put in an effort in to help our ramp. Have you ever done a marble challenge ?

The Great Marble Challenge

Hello my name is Manu from Paihia School I am a year six and we have been doing The Great Marble Challenge were we get cardboard and make a ramp out of It. Then we had to make it so that it would go exactly 1100 mm also known as 1.1 meters. The people in my group is Indy and Jaydin. On testing day another group was testing our ramp and they got 0 points with our ramp. At the end of the day it was our turn we got Jade‘s ramp and we got a lot of points. A couple of days later we did a reflection with our group.

The Amazing Scientific Method!

I have been doing The Scientific Method in an infographic on my chromebook. We were doing this for our science fair. It was fun because we got to write the steps and put photos on top that explain them.

You had to come up with a question, gather data and research,  try guess the answer, test your guess, analyze your data, adapt your guess, Present a conclusion and retest.

I think I could do it better next time maybe by explaining the sentence better. I think I did well on the photos. This could help me in the future for the science fair.

Bay Of Islands College Road Show

Hi my name is George, this week in Te Ngahere we went to the Bay Of Islands Collage  for a science roadshow. We learnt alot about science and gases an example is: oxygen makes up 21% of the air we breathe 78% is hydrogen and that one percent is the other gases like carbon dioxide, neon and argon these make 1% of the air we breathe. We also looked at some science fair stands my favourite stand was a machine with pipes that had a ball on it and the ball would float and when you turned the pipes the ball would not fall over it would stay in the air.

My Lifestyle on the road

Hello, my name is Tane, I am a new kid at Paihia School.

Since I have only been at this school for a couple of weeks I have not caught up on a few things, so I’m going to write about my lifestyle on the road instead. I live on the Extravaganza fair with my sister and parents, I make candy floss for a living and my sister makes pancakes for my dad. My mother does reiki and woodwork. Each day at 3pm we have a fireshow, I have a diablo, which looks a bit like a yoyo not on a string. I am not yet on fire with my diablo because it takes at least three years to get used to the weight of the steel, I will be able to do it this season. We only do all of this every Saturday to Sunday though, the rest of the week we are traveling to the next place to trade.

Have you ever traveled NZ?

Science T-shaped

In Te Ngahere we have been doing science T-shaped. That is when we got seven stories, we had to write about what the question was, what the hypothesis was, what information did they gather, how they tested their hypothesis, and why they did this.

I think that this was a good way of learning about scientific methods.

A Step By Step Guide To Making A Digital Mosaic Art

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to create digital mosaic using Google Drawings. A mosaic is a picture that is put together with small shapes. We got to choose anything we wanted to create a mosaic picture of(eg: our idol, animals etc). Once we chose a picture we had to insert it into google drawings. Using the polyline tool on google drawings we made little shapes to try and recreate the thing  we chose.

I chose a character called Itachi from Naruto to recreate. The purpose of making these mosaics was so we could create QR codes to be displayed on our wall. These QR codes will contain the Screencastify we made for our Ngahere projects.

The difficult part for me was trying to make the shapes I made align with his face. The easiest  part was creating shapes for his hair.

Have you ever created a digital mosaic before?

We all enjoy it its super fun. I travel around NZ in my blue truck all year and come back in winter. I’m happy that I have a School to go to erey day and I can’t wait to go back to  the fair.I can do a fire show using fire poi.  The Extravaganza fair stops every weekend at a new field. There are a lot of shops like a merry go round,  crystal shop and a coffee shop and much more. There are clam shops like massages and        tea reading. The Extravaganza starts at the bottom of Invercargill up to the top of the Bay of Island. The fair travails for 36 weeks.

The Delicious Apple Sponge

On the 1st of june the year seven and eights went to technology at Morewa school. The year sevens had cooking class and the year eights had woodwork. I was in cooking class. My teacher's name was whaea Dot and she is a nice teacher.  We made apple sponge. The  first step we did was peel the apples and use a core thing so you can get all the seeds and stuff out of the middle of the core cut them up and  put the in a pot to cook.  Then we stopped for morning tea time. We went to play for a bit then we went back to cooking class and we got a block of butter melted half of it then mixed it. The we added some sugar so we could cream the butter and sugar along with some eggs. We mixed it all together then we added the dry ingredients that were flour and baking powder. We combined the dry ingredients with the wet one so we mixed it all up. Well we were mixing the combined ingredients together whaea Dot said “who wants chocolate chips” we all shouted yes please!. So we all added chocolate chips. We got our dish to put our cooked apples and halved them with our buddy. So we put our cooked apples at the bottom and put our sponge mixture at the top. We cooked it for  20-25 minutes. Have you ever made apple sponge before ?

TECH

Hi my name is George from Paihia School and yesterday we went to technology and Mr E taught us 3D drawings. We then had to make a waka, It was my first time doing tech but it was fun. I almost finished but then we had to go so hopefully next time we go I can finish It.
