How many heads are there ?

WALT: identify the maths in things we do on a daily basis using our maths eyes.

This week we learnt about maths eyes and with this
specific task we used them to find the maths in an
image of gingerbread people then this is what we
found. The things I noticed on the gingerbread people
we're all these gingerbread people have 2 m&m’s used
as buttons, each gingerbread person has melted
chocolate as a hat and shoes, each gingerbread
person is lined in an array or 4x3 or 3x4, there are
48 limbs, 12 hats and 24 shoes all together and they
have positive and negative energy between the
gingerbread people which makes a cup.The hardest
part about this task for me was just trying to write
down everything we saw on time at a standard. The
easy thing about what we did was everything we notice
could count so it was easy to spot maths related things
in the image.

Did you know how often you use your maths eyes?

Trickshot challenge

For the last few days here in Te Ngahere we got to try a trickshot challenge. In our trickshot challenge we got a ping pong, a cup and a piece of cardboard our goal was to try get the ball land in the cup using our success criteria. Our success criteria was that the ball must bounce off a surface, you must use the piece of cardboard and the routine of the trickshot must be at least 3 seconds long lastly it must land in the cup. In my group we had chosen the climbing war on park to use . For our trick shot at first we used the cardboard as a flat surface but quickly realised the ball was not rolling so we made the cardboard into a steep surface causing the ball to flow easier.

Would you ever consider trying a trickshot challenge?

Australia Day

Here is Autumn's poster advertising the National Day of her country.

Mother's Day cards

Kia ora Bloggers. In Te Ngahere, we have been making Mother's Day cards . In Tynker where we could draw and write what we would want to put on a card or we draw it and write it in real life. For Mother's Day I have made my mum a card and might buy her a bag of chocolates.  I really like to show mum how much I love her.
What have you done to Mother's Day this year?

Mothers day Flower

Today we had to make something for mother's day. I did a flower online with her face for the centre of the flower. I hope you like my art! Maybe you should try and make one? Thank you for looking at my art! The petals where a bit big and wonky maybe I could get it better next time. It was really fun!!

Kia ora on friday Te Ngahere had a digital assembly. I thought it was like a normal assembly at school. It was unique because the teachers handed out more certificates than usual. I was surprised when they said my name because I didn’t expect to get one. This is my certificate.

Yazmine @ Pahia School

This week and last week we did our maths on perimeter and area. We learnt how to use it and what you can use it for and we got to teach it to other people using  screencastify. Screencastify is this thing that we use to take a video of how we learn things and how we did our maths. I think maths is really fun and interesting. I like using perimeter and I already knew what that sort of was but I didn’t know what area was so I had to learn it before I even did anything. So I learnt it and now I know that cm xcm = square cm and same with other measurements. I did area this week and perimeter last week. Have you learnt perimeter and/or  area before?

Airline Logo

Mikaire @ Paihia School

Imagine that you have been asked to create your very own airline!
What would you call it?
Design a simple logo for your airline
What do you guys think of my logo. It means safety good trip and don't worry. I chose this because lions are fierce so it represents that there is nothing to worry about and that it will be a good trip.  I LIke this because it was fun drawing the Logo then making it.

Have you ever made a Logo before?
