Te Ngahere walk

This term we’ve  decided that our class should be designed to look
more like the name. Since our class is called Te Ngahere our
teachers thought we should go for a walk in the actual Ngahere.
The point of this walk was to inspire us and expand our ideas of
how we could make our class like the forest in our own way.
When we left into the forest we saw lots of incredible things l
ike decaying branches, small streams with tiny creatures and lots
more. We all stayed quiet for a minute and we heard bird noises and
lots of other impeccable noises and sounds. Once we got back our
ideas expanded so much and we had so much more inspiration,
now we are ready to start.

Turbo touch

For physical Education this term we’ve played a new game called
turbo touch. The rules for turbo touch are you have to touch the
ball and pass, you can pass it forward , backwards, sidewards
and you can also flick it. If you drop the ball it’s a handover, and
on defence you must be 2 metres back. Every time we play we
warm up by passing the ball on to improve our throwing and
catching skills. We get into teams of 5 and every match is usually
6 minutes long. The game is actually a lot of fun and i definitely
think if you have the time you should try playing this game.

Place Value Game

On Friday the 31st of January we played a game called place
value game where you have a ten sided dice and you have
ten rolls for your hole group, you would share the dice
with your whole group your allowed to have 2 - 6 people
including yourself. I really enjoyed playing it .It was not
my first time that  I had played it before so I knew a
little bit about it but I still lost which I found really funny.
Apart of the game was to test your thinking about maths
and making the right move.

Place Value Game

Place Value Game

On the second day of the year at Paihia School we got to play a maths
game that our new teacher called Whaea Shannah showed us how to
play. First we got to pick a group then we started the game. We chose
a target number from 45 -45,000, got a 10 sided dice and we got ten
rolls each . You could either roll individually or roll it as a group.
We then  took turns rolling the dice and tried to get as close to the
number as possible. My number I chose as my target was 16,635,
the number I got after my 10 rolls was 15,999 so I was 36 points
away from my target. The purpose of this game was to help you
learn different strategies for solving Place Value equation. Would
you like to learn how to play this game?.

How to create a newspaper Tower

How to create News Paper Tower Here in Te Ngahere we got to do a challenge that requires teamwork and cooperation in your team. In this challenge we got two tries a draft and a proper one. With this challenge we were given 30 cm of sellotape and two sheets of newspaper to build a tower, we had to try and make the tallest freestanding tower. We were allowed to manipulate the tape in any way but we weren’t allowed t o put the tape on the floor  so it stands. The challenge needed a lot of teamwork and communication with all your teammates because if you didnt work with each other it wouldn’t work would it? The hardest part for me was trying to make the top section of the tower stand because it was a lot thinner than the base of the tower. The easier part of making the tower was learning from the first one because after we figured out why the first tower didn’t stand it was easy to make the next one stand. Do you have a different way of making a newspaper challenge?
