In Te Ngahere we have been learning to identify angles. There are different type of angles called acute, obtuse, straight, reflex and a full rotation. To find an acute angle it is always less than 90 degrees and greater than 0 degrees. To find an obtuse angle it is always greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees. I did well at identifying the angles but I need to work on measuring these angles. Have you ever had to identify angles before?

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to draw poupou. Poupou is something that is put up in peoples maraes or houses. Usually poupou represents someone or something. When we started drawing our poupou art we needed a pencil, paper, pastels and a ruler to make it smooth. Before we got to our good copy which was on an A3 piece of paper. When we sketched our Poupou art we had to practise designs on a seperate piece of paper then sketched those onto our Poupou. We also had to outline our drawing in vivid. lastly we had to practise our blending skills then we had to put that on our poupou art. This art is really cool and fun. I did good job at focusing on my art and not social talking. I could work on a bolder body and more patterns. Have you ever tried Poupou art before?

Angles and Fractions

Angles and Fractions

Hello I'm Ruby and today I will be telling you about what I learnt of angles and fractions.

Did you know that a reflex angle is bigger than 180 degrees or that a right angle is exactly 90 degrees.

I'm going to give you a quiz can you guess what the angle 41 is called well if you guessed acute you are correct! Let’s do another one! Ok what is the angle 164 degrees? If you guessed a right angle that is incorrect. The right answer is an obtuse angle!

As I was learning about these angles and how to identify them it made it easier to recognize them. I find it better to start with the hard ones, because then when you get to the easy ones you realise that they aren't that hard.

Do you like your maths?

GingerBread Men

Hello im Ruby, and today I’m sharing My brilliant maths eye’s on gingerbread. Maths eyes are when you use your eyes and notice a thing that involves maths. you don’t even notice that you use them. So the ability of having maths eyes are that you can see geometric shapes. Today I was using maths eyes without even noticing! I realised that they all have different cuts! I noticed that they all had different angels cuts. All of them had all different colours of buttons. They all had an accessory eg. Hats/ hair/ shoes ect. I basically looked very closely at the picture of gingerbread men and noticed alot of unfamiliar angled cuts. How many gingerbread men are there if you have 12 buttons?
